achenfeld is part of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), a worldwide medieval living history group, with over 30,000 members in countries all around the world. We dress in clothes of the middle ages, hold tournaments, feasts and all sorts of revelry. There is plenty to do at our events, singing, dancing, archery, sword combat and more.

We largely make the things we use, cooking, sewing, armouring and anything else we can think of to do or to make. The sharing, both teaching and learning of the different crafts is important to the SCA.

Most importantly for us all, we have a great time doing all these things.

Worldwide the SCA is broken up into 19 Kingdoms, each with its own King and Queen. We are Part of the Kingdom of Lochac made up of Australia and New Zealand. Perth and its surrounding suburbs make up a smaller group called a Barony, in this case the Barony of Aneala. The Canton of Achenfeld is the northern suburbs of Perth. If you live in the south of Perth, the Canton of Abertridwr is in the south.

Membership in the SCA is inexpensive and details are available online here. You are welcome to come along to see if you like what we do before taking out a membership. Our Wednesday night get togethers are a great place to start, you can meet people in a social setting working, on their projects for upcoming events without the need to wear costume.
